Hi there NWLivers! I’ll be writing to you regularly from my spot here in the sunny (sometimes only metaphorically) Greater Seattle area. I thought I’d start by giving you a quick window into my Pacific Northwest soul and what I’ll be talking about in coming blog posts…

I embarked on my first marathon adventure a little over a year ago with the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon.

Although the actual race was on a warm, California, June day, my four months of training were spent pounding the streets of Kirkland/Juanita, Washington.

This year, I wanted to stay close to home so I’m gearing up for the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon on June 25th. So far training days have been soggy, wet and generally dismal. This past week I’ve been enjoying the sunshine on my runs and am gearing up for an 18 miler on Friday night.

Also on my list of adventures this summer is a climb up Mt. Rainier! I’ve been training for this by hiking up Mt. Si on the weekends. This past weekend was a bit of a mud bath, but it made the climb all the more fun!

When I’m not running and hiking, I like to spend my time taking in local Pacific Northwest flavors, sounds, and people. Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending Amsterdam’s CD release party! This local band rocked the crowd at Studio 7 in Seattle with their alternative, pop punk sound. Look for a more in-depth look at this band and their sound coming soon to NWLive.tv!
